Some products are purchased in cartons and sold as separate units. When you order one carton and it comes as multiple units then it is recommended that you record a carton size for that product. For example, if you have a carton size of 6 and receive 1 carton for $12, the system will know to increase your SOH by 6 units and record the cost as $2.
There are two places to put the carton size in a stock card: in the basic details and in the PDE. If a carton size is added to the PDE, it will override the carton size in the basic details. If no carton size is added to the PDE, then it will take the carton size in the basic details which is usually set to 1.
To record the carton size for a stock line:
- Go to Z Office > Stock > Manage Stock
- Search for the stock you wish to update
- Double-click the stock line to edit it or right-click the stock line and press 'Edit Stock'
- Change the 'CartonSize (Units Per Carton)'
To record the carton size for a PDE:
- Go to Z Office > Stock > Manage Stock
- Search for the stock you wish to update
- Double-click the stock line to edit it or right-click the stock line and press 'Edit Stock'
- Highlight the PDE you wish to add a carton size to and press 'Edit'
- Enter in a 'Carton Size' that will override the carton size set in the main part of the stock card (if the PDE carton size is left blank, then it will use the carton size in the stock card)
With the correct carton size in place, the system will calculate the correct unit cost when you receive the carton in an invoice.
