Opening and reviewing a script in Patient Check does not automatically mark it as completed. You must complete the review for it to be recorded and for the script’s status to change from Pending to Completed.
You’ll learn how to:
- Identify pending and completed reviews
- Mark a review as completed
- Use the keyboard shortcut
- Understand the warnings displayed when leaving a pending review
Identify pending and completed reviews
The Total area displays the Patient Check status of each script for the patient:
- Pending means the review has not been completed.
- Completed means the review has been recorded.
When a pending script is selected, the Complete button is enabled.
Complete a review
To complete the review for the selected script:
- Select Complete or press Enter.
- The Complete Patient Check window opens.
- Enter the pharmacist’s initials.
- Select Complete or press Enter again.
Viewing a script or moving to another record does not complete the review. The pharmacist’s initials must be confirmed through the Complete Patient Check window.
After completing a review
Once the review has been recorded:
- The script’s status changes to Completed.
- The Complete button is greyed out when the completed script is selected.
- Patient Check moves to another pending script for the current patient, if one is available.
Patient Check continues moving through the patient’s pending scripts as each review is completed. Once there are no pending scripts remaining for the patient, it will not move any further.
Move to another script before completing
If you move to another script for the current patient without completing the previous review, Patient Check displays a warning in the Total area.
The previous script remains Pending until its review is completed.
You can return to the pending script and press Enter or select Complete to finish the review.
Move to another patient before completing
If you try to move to a different patient while the current review is still pending, the Active Patient Check Incomplete prompt appears.
You can select:
- Continue with Current Patient to return to the current patient and complete the review.
- Proceed to Next Patient to move to the selected patient. The unfinished review will remain Pending.
Tip: Check for pending reviews
At the end of the day—or at the start of the next day—you can use the Patient Check Selection window to identify scripts that are still pending. Change the dispensing date to review the completion status for another day.
