Learn how to tailor Patient Check to your pharmacy’s workflow, including where it is available and what happens when a dispensed label is scanned.
Patient Check is enabled by default at each dispensing workstation following the software update.
Your pharmacy can begin using it without completing any additional setup. However, you may wish to adjust the settings at individual workstations based on where dispensing and the pharmacist’s final check take place.
Patient Check is enabled by default.
Settings are workstation-specific, so any changes must be made separately at each workstation.
Review where Patient Check is available
Patient Check will be available from the Z Dispense menu at each dispensing workstation by default.
For many pharmacies, leaving it available at every workstation may be the most flexible option. However, you can disable it at an individual workstation if Patient Check will not be used there—for example, at a workstation dedicated solely to dispensing.
To change its availability:
- Open the workstation settings in Z Dispense: Settings > Workstation
- Locate the Patient Check settings.
- Disable Enable Patient Check as required.
- Save the workstation settings.
- Repeat these steps at any other workstation that requires a different configuration.
Choose what happens when a dispensed label is scanned
By default, scanning a dispensed label from Z Dispense will continue to open the Enhanced Scan Check window.
If your pharmacy wants scanning a dispensed label to open Patient Check instead, this can be configured separately at each workstation.
- Open the Patient Check workstation settings.
- Select Activate Patient Check upon scanning a dispensed label from Dispense.
- Save the workstation settings.
- Scan a dispensed label to confirm that Patient Check opens and loads the relevant prescription.
When this setting is enabled, scanning a dispensed label from Z Dispense opens Patient Check instead of the Enhanced Scan Check window. Scan Check remains available and can be completed from within Patient Check.
