We are receiving a higher volume of requests regarding the certification and closure of outstanding claims, following Services Australia advice.
Closing the claim is a two-step process in Z Dispense where you need to close and finalise (certify) the claim.
Closing the claim will roll over the claim period to the next claim period (e.g. 2501 to 2502). Finalising the claim will send the claim to Services Australia.
Checking Claim Periods
If you have received a list of claims that require your attention from Services Australia and would like to check these:
- Go to Z Dispense > Claims and Search by Claim Period Number. If you would like to see all the claims for a certain year e.g. 2020, we recommend searching "20" and so forth:
- The status should say 'Closed (Finalised with PBS)' or 'Processed' if both steps have been completed:
If you claim says Closed, you will need to close and finalise your claim.
Closing & Finalising (Certify) the Claim
- Go to Z Dispense > Claims > Actions > Finalise Claim with PBS
- The Certificate of Supply window should appear. Enter in your pharmacist initials and press Finalise Claim to send the claim to Services Australia.

You can escalate requests for help when:
- you’re an approved supplier who’s tried to close the claim with your software vendor
- you can’t access the data in the identified claims period
- you’re a revoked approved supplier.
