Z Dispense is now integrated with SafeScript for Victorian practitioners. It is a computer software that allows prescription records for some high-risk medicines to be transmitted in real-time to a centralised database which can then be accessed by doctors and pharmacists during a consultation. From April 2020 it will be mandatory to check SafeScript prior to writing or dispensing a prescription for medicines monitored through the system.
It is recommended that pharmacists have their AHPRA number recorded in Z Dispense and are registered with SafeScript before enabling the functionality within Z Dispense. If not already done so, pharmacists can register at www.safescript.vic.gov.au.
